During the sailing season, Carrum Sailing club runs events for :
- racing dinghies and multihulls (off the beach classes); and trailable yachts.
- Off-the-beach classes include Pacers, Lasers and Paper Tigers but all other classes are welcome.
The trailable yacht fleet is made up of a diverse range of classes including Careel 18, Careel 22, Bushranger 7, Ultimate 18 and Timpenny 670.
The club runs two series during the sailing season; the Pre Christmas and Post Christmas Point Scores. Trophies are presented for both Class-based (Class Yardstick) and Performance-based handicaps.
Combined Clubs Winter Series
Carrum Sailing Club and the Mordialloc Motor Yacht Club join forces each year to conduct a combined clubs winter series for trailable yachts. There are two round-the-buoys races each month from April to September inclusive. The venue alternates between the two clubs.

Long Beach Challenge
The Long Beach Challenge is an inter club event for trailable yachts conducted each year between Mordialloc Motor Yacht Club and Carrum Sailing Club. The Challenge is a three race event. Two of the races are round the bouy events, one conducted off Carrum and the other off Mordialloc. The third race, the Jamesons Trophy Race, is a twilight – sternchaser. The fleet first sails to the Spoil Grounds from Mordialloc. Then, from the Spoil Grounds the course is to the Fawkner Beacon. After rounding Fawkner Beacon, yachts finish at night off Mordialloc Pier.
Marlay Point Overnight Race
A strong contingent of Carrum trailables competes each year in the Marlay Point Overnight Race. Each year teams from Carrum competes with clubs from all over Australia for the prestigious Adam Brinton trophy. This trophy is awarded to the club team with the best performance based on class yardsticks. Carrum has won the trophy twice in recent years, in 2006 and 2005.
Champions at Carrum
At Carrum our focus is on families and participation – winning comes a distant second to mutual support and camaraderie. Nevertheless, over the years sailors from Carrum have been successful at state, national and even world championship level in classes as diverse as the Fireball; Careel 22; TS 16; National E; Mosquito; Pacer; Sabre; B2 Class Catamaran
